Roy Keane as a pundit

JAYTALITY

Player Valuation: £30m
As an Irish Toffee, the sweetest kind of toffee made with sweet Jameson's Whiskey with a hint of mint, I was wandering what the scouse think of our Roy Keane's punditry. I think; hate him or love him he is not afraid to speak his mind no matter how controversial. Like, for instance, his opinion on Irish fans singing when we got laughed out of the world cup, etc.

What yas think?

Like him, speaks sense, rips Utd and the [Poor language removed] at most chances and seems to have a soft spot for us

I think it a disgrace the FAI gave him a job after the way he behaved in 2002.

I noticed that, loved his words on big dunc this season

Me too.. can't remember exactly, but did he say 'I just kept out of his way' or something?

EDIT

Googled it!

“I used to stay away from him. We’re talking about characters earlier and he’s certainly that. He was a top, top player and he’s obviously been promoted up the last two or three weeks to work with the first-team and no doubt the strikers at Everton will learn a lot from him. “

I like his analysis, I like the input and his no nonsense approach which seems to give a somewhat Shakespearian mirror image to the "take no prisoners" style he had as a player.

But most of all, I enjoy watching him because I know, deep down, that one of these days, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.........he's gonna absolutely fkn throttle Adrian Chiles.

Loved him as a player..,, love his punditry.... He sometimes goes close to the edge but that's because he was such. Good player e demands/expects hs peers to be the same

No doubting he commanded respect on the field, and as a pundit hes not afraid to tell it like is. But i still find it hard to forgive him for that spat with Mick McCarthy in Saipan.

Spot on.

And I would venture to suggest that if Keane had played for any club other than Manchester United his name would be Mudd in Ireland to this day.

Of course, had he not played for United he likely wouldn't have chucked that temper tantrum in the first place as it was all based on how Ferguson organised things at that club.

I am Liverpool Irish and would root for the Republic at tournaments but I have never forgiven Keane for letting the auld sod down in Japan.

Re his abilities as a pundit, he does have a certain novelty value as a controversialist but he stands out because the rest of the pundits in England have splinters in their arses through sitting on the fence.

He would hardly be noticed on an ORTE panel where Johnny Giles and Eamon Dunphy do the same thing....only they do it better.

And Joe Brolly and Pat Spillane on the GAA programmes are even better again :)
