Player Valuation: £70m
Although fans are disappointed not to have addad a new face to the squad, Ross Barkley's introduction to the Premiership is as good as anyone or even better than we could have bought and cost us nothing. So if we can bring these lads through with this talent why do we need to buy?

Yes mate, I made this point although it won't appease the howling dogs, the depths of our youth side is frightening an although not to be relied on as a sole source of player development - it's the only playing field we can compete in - scouting the kids and getting them in.

It's one thing that I'm confident Everton are ahead of te game in.

We've got lucky there definitely.

Not really luck though. Billy gets a hiding on here, but the club have said repeatedly they invest heavily in FF and youth. That's not an accident.

Look at what happened in the 90's when Fowler, Macca, Owen, and other boyhood Blues went to the darkside because we didn't give a **** about youth development.

it's not an accident.

I actually agree with you to an extent, it was just a lazy first post. Contributing factors include investment, coaching and good old fashioned hard work. But having someone come through with natural talent, apart from scouting, is a lucky thing.

I hear ya. But again, everyone needs to remember that it's because we've invested in youth setups and done things the right way, that the Barkley's of the world sign for Everton as schoolboys. They didn't used to, even if they were Blues.

I agree with you and its about time we got our act together, it was painful watching all those blues across the park.

Barkley is never going out of my fantasy team this season, even if quadruple leg breaks occur.

HE IS ONLY 5.0 KIDS, GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT AND VICTOR MOSES IS INJURED
