I can't see him ever coming back to be fair, but i would have him back if he could still do a job! not just to give him the feeling that he is forgiven, when he is in his mid 30's and not good enough!

I don't mean forgiven for leaving becuase when all is said and done it did help the club and he was and is a very talented player who has moved on to win lots of trophys! Someone else stated it on this page! its the jumping around and kssing the badge infront of the park end! No excuse for that!

Just another bi-product of modern day football! It keeps breeding them now! there isn't many Tim Cahill about anymore!

I've certainly softened how i feel about rooney so this isnt a dig just an observation. There was a Sky or ESPN 'special' on shearer the other day. I only saw coupe of mins of it but it was talking about how he turned down united because he wanted to play for his own club and how he wanted to play for them 'in his prime not when he was past it' and I couldn't help think about Rooney. Whatever people think about shearer he could have played for united and racked up a vast array of winners medals but he wanted to play for his 'club' & it's certainly at odds with the way the likes of Rooney behaved.

At the time Shearer moved to Newcastle they were a very fluid, attacking side who had the potential to challenge for the league (hate saying that) and he was mature. Would he have turned down United if Newcastle were relegation fodder with a piss poor team, I honestly don't think so. He would have been wearing red that season and I'd argue the toss with him in public

Maybe he wouldn't mate , it's just an observation but there is certainly a contrast Between the two
