I'm sorry mate but 99% of the clubs in England couldn't keep a world class talent in this climate.

And go back before Kenwright, in the 90s. We couldn't even keep hold of Duncan Ferguson ffs.

I think Kenwright is absolutely useless, don't get me wrong, but this is football now. The top talents go to the top teams, and the only way you can become a top team is by getting your own oligarch.

99% of clubs in the league haven't got talents like Rooney and Barkley and the few who have , have now kept them , Liverpool ( Gerrard , Carragher) UTD ( Rooney , Giggs , Scholes , ect ect , Chelsea ( John Terry , Frank Lampard ) Arsenal ( Jack Wilshere ) so that puts that side of a debate to bed , if we had a proper chairman and not as you put it " useless" we might still have the two playing along side each other in our side , foreign players like Ronaldo and Cesc don't count because one day they'll always either want to go home or try a new challenge but kids who grow up supporting the club , if we had the back up from
the board we should really be able to keep at the club IMO

Er, what are you on mate?

Aston Villa had James Milner. He's gone.

Fulham had Chris Smalling. He's gone.

Blackburn had Phil Jones. He's gone.

Southampton had Oxlade-Chamberlain. He's gone.

None of those are on the same level as Barkley, but that makes Barkley even harder to hold onto, because it makes him even more desirable to the top clubs.

Kenwright has done a lot wrong but if you're blaming him for the way we can't keep world class talent, then you're sadly misguided.

Can't count those as they were bought from other clubs.

See for yourself. People can't tell me he doesn't have Rooney's confidence and attitude. He's not as emotional but the talent and willingness to take the game by the scruff is very similar. Look what he did in 8-10 minutes against Villa, that's Rooney esque, and he's not even supposed to be an explosive forward, but a creative midfielder. He's another weird hybrid.

He still has alot to prove and will need to develop alot if he's to reach Rooney's current level, but at 16-17 I'd put him in Rooney bracket.

He's more of a gerrard type attitude and he may get to those heights too. Seriously though mate, Rooney's on a different level and was too. I like Ross better as a person but Rooney was more of a joy to watch.

Oh and another obvious point: all of the clubs you've listed regularly play in the champions league and/or win trophies.

We can't offer that, and the top players need that. It's why Arteta finally moved.

Won't be comparing them, they don't even play in the same position and it's all this next Rooney cack that did Rodwell.
