Simon Smith

Player Valuation: £5m
So the papers say, just wondering if we had a sell on clause in his contract? and if there was did it have a time limit?
Anyone have any ideas about this ?

25% of anything over £27M...so the story goes.

The 'repuatable' source 101greatgoals is saying he can go for as little as £25million.

If we were to bid £27million we'd get £6.75million back. It would be like printing money!

Ha ha...when you put it like that....

Given his wages there's only a handful of clubs who could afford to take him & they'd not want to pay a massive fee on top for a 28 yr old. I fear his likely move has come too late for us to get a decent chunk of cash from the sell on clause, I reckon he'll go for less than £25M

I posted in on another forum at the time but he was so close to going to city last time that the surprise to many when he didn't was palpable . I'm not sure ferguson has ever really forgiven him to be honest , I'm Not saying whether the current rumours are right or wrong but their relationship has been 'damaged' for years.

EDIT: I've just spoken to someone in football about this and they seem to think there is substance to it , their comment was "somebody has briefed the press and its clearly not Rooney "

He's defo on his way this time imo Sheeds. Ferguson dropping him for their biggest game of the season, says it all - he no longer sees Rooney as a key part of his first XI. He's got 2 years left on his mega bucks contract & there's been rumours of their relationship being 'strained' since he flirted with City.

I doubt he'll get an offer of the size he'll be after in this country though, Paris seems the most likely destination for him at present & I reckon he'd hate that like. I can see him being Ian Rush II in that regard.

Wont the tax put rooney off france

I seem to remember reading the sell on was only active over the life of his original 5yr deal. That's not definite but it rings a bell.
