Chelsea & Arsenal wait on Rooney and Moyes showdown
"WAYNE ROONEY will meet David Moyes to decide his Manchester United future next week with both Chelsea and Arsenal ready to offer him a way out.
Rooney is still hurt and angerd by former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's public declarations that the England star asked for a transfer at the end of last season. The striker vehemently refutes the claim. He wants new united boss David Moyes to tell him that he situation was caused by a misunderstanding, and that he is still wanted at Old Trafford.
If that agreement fails to materialise - as seems likely - Rooney will accept that he will leave the champions. It is understood that Fergie recommended this summer is the best time to sell. The player has two years left on his current deal and turns 28 in october and his asking price will dramatically reduce in 12 months' time. Rooney and his representatives cannot speak with other clubs uless United annouce he is available for transfer, but Jose Mouriniho and Arsene Wenger would like to have him aboard.
Its is understood that Rooney is keen to stay in England. He would not close the door on the possibility of moves to french clubs Paris Sanit-Germain or Monaco, but prefers the option of linking up with Mourinho at Stamford Bridge and the prospect of playing with Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar.
Yet the suspicion is that Untied would prefer not to sell to a side they consider direct title rivals and that the Old Trafford outfit would be keener to do business with Arsenal.
