Rooney given Utd testimonial, wants to play Everton

Can you blame Rooney???
He went to them to win stuff, first real period that they are not doing that, and look not much better than the team he left. He has no emotional attachment to them, it was a job.

Yeah I think that's what the problem is, he went there to win stuff and now they're not competing at the top level he's just playing for a team he doesn't support and doesn't really care about. He doesn't seem to care what people think either, since he openly encourages his kids to support Everton over the team he actually captains. Seems like it's literally just a job to him.

He'll likely leave them soon and if he doesn't end up here it'll be some team in a smaller league where he'll be the centre of attention again and where he'll have the chance to win titles and trophies without too much effort.
