The animator of much-loved cartoons Roobarb and Henry's Cat has died aged 91, his family has confirmed.

Bob Godfrey won an Oscar for his short film Great, a biography of the engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, but remains best known for his TV work.

The British animator - whose career spanned 50 years - was also responsible for Noah and Nelly in... Skylark and the risque cartoon series Henry 9 to 5.

He was awarded three Baftas and received an MBE in June 1986.

:(

Used to absolutely love Roobarb when i was a kid. RIP

Sad coincidence that both the narrator and animator passed in the same week.

Wew, major nostalgia. Remember watching that back when I was younger. Can't remember specifically what happened now but I remember it being crazy and the theme tune will be logged in my brain for ever.

Brings back memories of Roobard & Custard. Always thought way back then that it was a weird cartoon. Now, with the benefit of age, pretty sure he made it while having a good time!

Thanks for the memories.
