Ronaldinho arrested: Why is Ronaldinho in prison?

Ronaldinho is currently in prison in Paraguay - but why was he arrested in the first place?

The ex-Barcelona star and his brother were arrested in Paraguay on March 6 for allegedly using fake passports to enter the country.
The pair were said to be in Paraguay for the launch of Ronaldinho's new book.
Gilberto Fleitas, the head of the investigations unit of the Paraguayan police, said Ronaldinho and his brother were taken into custody just hours after a judge refused to ratify a prosecutor's proposal for an alternative punishment.

Both have denied the claims and Ronaldinho's lawyer Adolfo Marin has been insisting the pair did not know they were using fake documents.
“The courts have not taken into account the fact that Ronaldinho didn’t know he was committing a crime, because he didn’t understand he had been given false documents. He is stupid,” Marin told Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo.
Ronaldinho and his brother have been held in a jail on the outskirts of Paraguayan capital Asuncion.


Bit of a fall from grace that one.
 


I did a bit of research on this

apparently Brazilian nationals don’t even need a passport to enter Paraguay but because he was caught using a fake passport he has to still be punished

why was he using a fake passport?

well apparently in Brazil he built something without seeking planning permission and had to pay a massive fine. He refused to pay the fine so the government confiscated his passport.
 
On his day, the most spectacular player I’ve ever seen play football.

Ronaldo and Messi do a lot of things incredibly well, but he did things that nobody else even considered.

It remains odd to me that Latin America continues to use the name Adolfo when all the rest of the world has sworn off the use of the name "Adolf" in its entirety for a solid 75 years now.

You don't see many Idi or Pols around nowadays either.
 
Theres 10 years between my oldest son and my youngest. We arent exactly flush and always believed in handing clothes down.

My oldest got a Barca shirt with Ronaldinho on the back when Ronaldinho was ace. Cant for the life of me remember where it came from but the shirt still looks good on the young lad. Thankfully no one here has a clue who Ronaldinho was. Anyway, you have to feel sorry for my youngest, he's only just grown out of the Beattie Everton shirt.

I also liked the fact he also seemed to enjoy the beautiful game, always played with a smile on his face especially when he left defenders wondering where both he and the ball had gone.
