Roma have been fined 50,000 euros (£42,400) after racist chants from their fans halted a match at AC Milan.
Play in the 0-0 Serie A draw on Sunday was stopped for about two minutes after chants were aimed at Milan's black players from the visiting fans.
AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri called Italian football "a place for the uncivilised" afterwards.

In response to the ruling, Roma released a statement condemning the actions of their supporters.
It read: "This type of behaviour from any football supporters, including ours, is completely unacceptable. We are committed to facing this issue head-on to rid our sport of this problem and promote respect for all."
The capital club were also warned they could play future league matches behind closed doors should the same events be repeated.
The game was brought to a temporary halt at the start of the second half and an announcement made to supporters ordering them to cease their behaviour before play was resumed.
Former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli, ex-Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng and defender Kevin Constant were part of the Milan team, with the governing body of the Italian league's judgement stating three unnamed players had been abused.
In January, a friendly between Milan and Pro Patria in January was suspended because of racist chants aimed at Boateng. In April, Juventus were fined 30,000 euros (£25,700) for their fans' racist abuse of AC Milan players.
The Milan v Roma match marked the first time in Italian football where play had been temporarily halted and then re-started, but Allegri questioned the strength of the sanction.
"Stopping the game doesn't work, it's a happy medium and like all happy mediums, it doesn't do anybody any good," he said.
"Balotelli was defeated, he gave everything, but he is 22 and subjected more and more to racist chants. That doesn't do him any good."

Fifa president Sepp Blatter also voiced his disgust at the Roma fans' behaviour, tweeting: "Appalled to read about racist abuse in Serie A. Tackling this issue is complex, but we're committed to action, not just words."
In the aftermath of the Milan and Pro Patria game, Fifa created a special taskforce to tackle the issue. Members included Boateng, Premier League referee Howard Webb, the Football Association's governance and regulation director Darren Bailey and pressure group Football Against Racism in Europe's chief executive Piara Powar.
The group met on Monday, with the world governing body since publishing an outline of proposed sanctions for clubs and individuals found guilty of "racist or discriminative acts".
These will include having an official at the stadium tasked to spot "acts of discrimination", creating a sliding scale of punishments from fines to playing games behind closed doors and the creation of "a concrete action plan" by all bodies describing how they will try to fight racism.

Oh wow, what a massive statement to kick racism out of football. Fine them the equivalent of a bench player's weekly wage. Pathetic

It's not complex at all Sepp. Just find out who the racists are and ban them from the stadium. Simples

They, (FIFA, UEFA) either see it as a problem, or they dont. Simple. This shows they do not see it as a problem, as Blatter confirmed. "We are committed to action, not words". Yeah, right on there Sepp.

Christ, Suarez and Terry were probably fined more than that, and without wanting to open old wounds, both of their cases had, shall we say, two sides of the story.

or ban roma from europe for say 5 years? will teach them a lesson and will make other italians aware. Not sure that would stop some of them, but when they do it, ban them as well, simple really. If they do it again in the future, ban them again with a longer sentence and so forth. Blatter just lacks any kind of testicles to make these kind of decisions.

Or for some reason, he maybe has reasons not to act? Just saying like.

You can't ban a football team from Europe because some of their away fans are racist bellends.

Besides, didn't the racism take place in a domestic tie ?

So thats ok then. Point is mate, the fine is a joke, and if they are serious, other sanctions are available.

I think ban the fans. Find out who they are and add them to the banned list

I hate group punishments. Used to hate it in school. One or two kids misbehave so you keep the whole class back. It never had the desired effect (i.e. everyone turns on the knobs) and just created a siege mentality.

Find the tool shed racists, ban them. Keep banning the racists till they either give up or are all banned

Which is why group bans would work, IMO. Kind of happened here.

I think anyone who gets fined, individual or team, or national team, should be fined ludicrous amounts then the money should be donated straight to various charities. Sound.

I didn't say it was okay, simply that it would be weird to ban a team from Europe when the racism took place in a domestic match.

Banning teams from football just hurts the majority of good fans, which is not the way to go.

i agree with mikey, we were unfairly not allowed to prove we were the best team in the world because of those scum across the road.

This kind of thing does seem to be happening a lot in Italy though (i admit, i haven't looked at the numbers of fans who are doin g the racist abuse) but it does make you wonder how many "good fans" there are in Italy at the moment. Anyway, that's not the point, with all the CCTV and tehcnology and security we have in the world, surely it's not the hardest job to find the majority of the culprits and give them life bans with massive fines

Thing is, the good fans are put off the Ultra's, so they don't go to the match, thus the bad habits of the Ultra's go un checked as they are becoming the majority in the stands.

It really is a s*** casserole and no mistake
