It's not just Dixie Dean either. There are 30 EVERTON PLAYERS who've scored more league goals than Lukaku - http://evertonresults.com/lgegls.htm.

Pity it only shows 40 goals and above.

Our greatest goals-to-games ratio is held by Jack Southworth, who netted 36 in 32 and then suffered such a bad injury that his career was ended by it.

Southworth's overall total was 139 goals in 139 games! We had bought him from Blackburn Rovers.

Now HE was a striker worthy of great note!!!

You said we were played off the park. Who could that be down to?

It was an obvious pop at the manager. Not that he doesn't deserve it like, but you spent the last few weeks telling everyone who'd listen how a corner had been turned. You just have to roll with it, take a defeat, but you lashed out instead. As said: #fickle

The correct answer is Robles.

In the premier league era it's an achievement and shows progress, however will he ever become top 10 all time scorer is a better question. I don't remember Utd making a big deal about Rooney bring Utd top prem goal scorer, only their all time goal scorer

It's really no different to other commonly used measures such as "post war".

Exactly.

"Premiership era" has become the new "Post war era" which used to bug the bejasus out of my dear old dad when Dave Hickson or Joe Royle or Big Bob were attributed accolades about "post war" scoring feats and he said they wouldn't lace the boots of Dixie and Tommy Lawton lol

I mean, take Big Bob in particular.

When he scored his "record" 30 goals that season, my arl fella, whom was at the game versus Chelsea when he scored it, was as delighted as everyone else but he said "record.....what flippin' record"

It is just shorthand to give younger fans a starting point to relate to......much the way "pre war" football was very remote to us baby boomers whom needed our own reference point.

And "post war" was that point ;)
