Don't shoot me down now as a bad racialist/'mericanist or any other ist but I have noticed , not just recently but also reading back through the threadssomething which , to me sticks out a mile.
In discussions about players, the british argument is always " i saw him here, or i watched him there, or he did this is a particular game" or things along that drift.

The Anerican posters tend to also have very strong arguments about certain players, but also tend to back up these statements with stats.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest to be honest, all debate is healthy debate if done properly but I was wondering, is it just something cultural...when I watched the superbowl last week every player was talked about in general terms statistacly as opposed sometimes to what he could actually do on the field if you get what I mean, I hope I don't offend anybody by saying this, I just thought it was an interesting reocurring occurance.

interetingly only 50% of the time though.

yea but 80% are accurate.

I would concur its a cultural thing. For many sports fans here we grow up with ESPN which has stats for everything and every sport. Even soccer can be broken down into quantifiable numbers.

For me, i look at players like Peinaar, who i really like; however, he isnt a very productive player over his career.
10 EPL goals in a little over 9100 minutes since 2007 with an additional 20 assists.
I would propose there are 5-10 wingers out there at a similar price tag that are far more productive.

If we want to discuss intangibles, it a wide open discussion.
