Any one else finding that Rodwell is constanly talking about the future and never the present, When we still had 2ish months to go Rodwell was talking about next season how he wants to put the season behind him and have a good season next year. Then come the U/21 UEFA in which was highly hyped he even made me belive it could kick start his career and it was anything but, He didnt even get a full game.

And now his saying: "I would definitely like to be involved. You always want to test yourself at a high level and I would be proud to represent Great Britain." (On the Olyimpics) Source - 'The Sun'

I think the hype has/is getting to him a little to much. Jack mate i think you can be a top player and im a fan of yours but its all about the current anything can happen by then and right now he wouldnt even make the Olyimpic squad. Now there is alot of bigger current issues BUT i just dont think its the right way to be going about it. Thoughts?

Thoughts?

I think a journalist asked him if he'd like to play in the Olympics and he said he would. What's wrong with that.

When you read quotes from players you have to understand that it is in response to a question. If he said no, there'd be someone else on here complaining about that.

It's just glib footballer-talk. They get media training to come out with this anodyne shite. Most of them are thick and cant think for themselves.

Agreed. I think fans forget this sometimes. It's not as if he approaches someone unsolicited and says these things, he's asked a question and he answers it.

i don't think he is saying anything out of the ordinary. He was probably asked about the U21's...so it is his right to say he hopes it will kick start his career after the injuries. And why would he say anything else about the Olympics? As for focusing on next season, our season was already a write off both for him and the club so why not say he hope it to be different next season?

My biggest beef with Rodwell is that we are constantly talking about potential. I think next season Felli and Rodwell should start in the centre and see how it goes for 10 games assuming they both stay fit. THen we will have a better idea

He wants next season to start tomorrow. He knows he's been injured and not played to his best which he's admitted. he's now fully fit and just wants to play.

Hell be here next season imo. No one will pay the fee wed be asking and he needs a season to prove himself.

He should be one of the 1st team starters for next season imo in 1 position to cement and not 4 he has played. If not wed be stopping his development and we should sell or loan if that's the case

I'm a fan, think he's got the tools to be a great player, maybe needs to add some aggression to his game and needs to get involved with the play a bit more but hope that will come with more experience. He had a bad season last year but lets hope he comes back for pre-season with a point to prove because he definitely took a step backwards, saying that i wouldn't be suprised to see him being the one who is sold probaly to the mancs again.

I would rather hear someone talk about the future than to be harping on about the past.

In the early 80s I was stood near the back of the Gwladys Street (midweek match against Leeds) when someone started going down memory lane. The crowd surrounding him began singing "Halcyon Days, Halcyon Days, Halcyon Days" to the tune that became 'Here We Go'. :) Quite funny if you were there. :)

Anyway, just thought I'd share it with you, my fellow blues. :)
