Player Valuation: £60,000
Up until the first Derby this season (when Suarez got him sent off) he looked the business and I thought THIS was his season to finally announce himself to the Premier League and establish himself in the 1st team alongside Felli. It was almost as if he'd got his head straight and made himself a target of going to the Euros.

Since then, he just hasn't looked the same person, let alone the same player.

His body language hasn't been the best and he's been very wary of sticking a foot in a 50/50. I know he's been injured too, but I daresay had that dodgey red never happened he'd have carried on in similar form and would be ahead of Gareth Barry for England this summer. He had a fantastic game against Man City on there patch when he patrolled David Silva, but he hasn't done much since.

Another problem is that Gibson is now well ahead of him in the pecking order and Barkley is yet to be given a REAL chance at showing what he can do. Depending on his character, this will will either spur him on the compete for a place, or turn him into one of those players that's quite happy to sit on the bench with 40k a week rolling in.

Could turn out to be a career defining moment for the lad.

He needs a kick up the ass. Stop playing sideway balls and go forward. To be honest it's a mental issue, and until he snaps out of it he'll never play anywhere near his potential. Moyes' style of play doesn't help either imo.

He's just not as good as we all hoped.

I honestly do not think this has been proven yet. If he can get fit by the start of next season and get a full year under his belt, I think you may start seeing an improved player or an expected player. Did anyone really expect him to be a world-beater?

We all know how good he can be. It's frustrating. I've got a feeling it'll be at utd under sir Alex that he'll really fulfil his potential.

I don't think the Derby scarred him....since then he has played for England and really looked the part.

I just think his game has suffered due to the general malaise which affected the club in the first half of the season and the revival since January has passed him by on account of injuries picked up whilst he was on international duty.

Feel sorry for the lad, he has ability but is being mismanaged in my opinion, rushing him back before he is fully fit will mean he is continuously injured. If a player is getting the same injury over and over its not rocket science to realize he need to heal fully. He can't find his feet in that formation either it doesn't suit him he looks stifled the lads an athlete he should be a box to box player but he is just used as fellis foil.

If you look at it objectively shafting grannies appears to help when you're a young everton player.

It's all so simple really.

To me it always looks like he plays within himself. Don't know if he's just following instructions but I think he can do much more. I know injuries haven't helped either but I'm still waiting for him to show us why people were talking about him as a £20 MIL player not too long ago....Also, he seems like too much of a nice guy, needs to have a bit more of an edge about him IMO.

He's average at best.

I don't buy this "he's still only young" lark; Yes, he's a sprog at 21, but for at least 10 years he's been playing the English game at every level and with over 100 appearances in the top flight he shows no signs of well...anything.

The new Reo-Coker.
