Rather shocked by Rodwell's error yesterday.

87 minutes of graft partially undone by carelessness.

The the lack of fitness in one or two was apparent (Arteta).

On the whole I don't give Yak too much stick but his lack of running took the absolute piss last night. Let Lisbon play the ball round at the back/on the half way line.

Saha and Cahill gave them a tough time. Got to see more effort from Yak. Simple. Or he doesn't play and he'll never get fit again if he doesn't show some real effort.

He did well when he came on. Almost scored and set up Saha who should've scored.

Just because he's not Rooney running down everything, doesnt mean he needs to do it.

Rewind the part that show yak chases, hassle, won the ball, carry it forward and create a goal scoring opportunity.
You might change your mind after watching.

As I said, I'm far from Yak's biggest critic, but coming on as a sub he should be chasing down even more as he's fresh whilst the defenders arn't.

Everton dropping deeper and deeper because Yak isn't pressuring the defenders and DM enough.

Compare the ease of Sporting when Yak came on to when Saha and Cahill were tearing into them.

Playing a side like them who play it exclusively on the deck at the back makes it even more important - its easier to do also.

Yak was left to chase down on his own. Cahill and Saha share that responsability when both on the pitch. The reason we couldn't get out of our own half wasn't because Yak wasn't chasing down but because he had no support from the middle, we had dropped so deep to try and protect what we had. I think thats the point were we missed Heitinga organising the back four and pushing the midfield on.

It was a good performance from a team thats barely played together during our run of form, confidence pushed us on and the starting eleven last night will play together a lot more before the 2nd leg. We have a lot to look forward to in Europe this season IMO.

We can't put all the blame on yak when we drop deep. By the time yak came on, Saha is close to burnout, you can't expect him to cover so much ground and press as much as saha/cahill at the start of the match.

Ive seen the future mate and its Jack Rodwell - ill say it again hes going to be better then Gerrard. Personally i hope he doesnt drop into defence he has the talent to be a trually world class midfeild player.

This boy has the potential to better then anything else we have in the squad and potentialy maybe not since the holy trinity.

This.
If he stays he can become our Gerrard.
It's been a difficult season for most parts, and this always tends to affect young players. He and Everton will come back stronger than ever next season.

I think its time to face the facts that Yakubu will never, and never has been, a player who will run at everything. Vaughan is the player to do that, and why he doesn't get played baffles me, but Yak will return to his best soon.

Don't really know what Rodwell was doing but never mind he will learn and move on.
