Or does it seem like there's a lack of GREAT rock bands these days. Electronica is going through a very fertile period, but there just isn't a ton of great rock records coming out lately IMHO.

What am I missing?

You're dead right JD mate.

Me and my mate talk about this a lot. There just aren't any new proper rock bands coming out at the moment.

We often talk about how lucky we are to have heard some bands that are no longer around and feel sorry for today's youth who don't understand.

I can't see bands like AC/DC or even your Limp Bizkit ever being popular again.

It's sad really.

Today the Foo Fighters try and rock properly but even they can't do it all.

It's sad.

I blame Rihanna.

I'd say electronic artists -- or more specifically bands incorporating electronic elements -- are becoming more prominent and are at the forefront of what I find new and interesting, at the moment.

There are some more classic set up rock bands out there at the moment producing music I really like, but I'd agree that they're becoming more scarce. QOTSA's new album definitely reinvigorated my interest for rock, mind. Josh Homme is very good at reminding one what guitars can do!

Everyone's got different taste but the Foo Fighters are often held up as a positive example. Sorry but the Foo Fighters haven't been GREAT it a very long time. I've never been in the Queens of the Stone Age, though they fit that criteria.

For me, there's Bloc Party, The Joy Formidable and then a lot of "B" players.

I listen to a LOT of music and I'm desperate for some new bands to come along and really nail it, and sadly it's just not there for me.

Depends what you count as 'rock'.

The Courteeners, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, RHCP, Primal Scream, The Black Keys, Kasabian (NEA)... are all good, but do they count? A lot of pop/indie type stuff there.

I'm not saying there aren't any, but the numbers are pretty low. A lot of those bands you mentioned have been around a really long time too. I'm looking for some new blood.

I love rock but is it just me that thinks AC/DC are trash?

I used to like you. True, AC/DC havnt released a decent album since 1981, but what they did before that was brilliant, and still sound fresh today. IMO.

Back in Black is the highest selling album of all time for a band, or something like that.

it's not rihanna's fault.

it's ****e boy bands like the wanted and one direction.

It's simple, more people go out clubbing these days and all they play is this kind of crap ft. David Guetta

so all the lads have to learn the words and dance so that they can be near ladies on said nights out; seeing as most ladies are influenced by shizz on TV like Geordie shore they go clubbing to the most popular places i.e. the places that don't play your previously famous rock tunes, therefore you get less of your sexy rock chicks who guys can interact with and pull.

god i hate society.

i also have no idea what i'm saying or whether it makes sence, i think i just put a few words together if i'm honest.

I don't mind any I'd the ones mentioned there mate, but I think this is about proper rock. Like rock rock.

Zeppelin, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Metallica, Aerosmith, etc etc

Used to love the Foos, but they've been pretty poo for at least 8 years now. Their earlier stuff was incredible though.

I see what you mean though. The Joy Formidable are a good example, without being a classic ROCK rock kind of band, if you know what I mean. They were amazing live.
