RIP the Heysel 39

Gents, let's try and keep to comments relating to those who sadly lost their lives 29 years ago. There is the main Liverpool thread here if you wish to comment particularly about Liverpool's and their fans' response to the day itself.

Gentle reminder folks.
If your comments are deleted or edited, that's why.

See above.

I know this seems like censorship, and strictly speaking, it is, but lets keep it totally on-topic. As @the esk has said, there's a thread all about Liverpool for comments about the day itself and their clubs response. It would be nice to show as much respect as we can for those that died.

Goodness, 25 years ago. I was a student in Scotland at the time. That night, having a car, I took the girlfriend to visit the folks - they had their doubts about me being good enough for their daughter! Watching the thuggery unfold on the TV as we watched in their living room, I'd never been as embarrassed to be from Liverpool. Didn't help with the Scouser stereotype at the time. Don't think they ever warmed to me.

Of course, the impact of that night on a great, great Everton team was just as significant!

I need to add, prior to that my experiences of being a Scouser away from home had always been positive, the kudos of being from Liverpool was always a good thing - a lot of it due to The Beatles.

Censorship is exactly what it is.

Why are you even bothering?

Because people have been asked to show a bit of respect and take the negative stuff ( however justified it is ) to another thread.
Sorry you feel that's a problem. Your call.

One of football's forgotten disasters along with the Bradford fire in terms of media coverage. RIP 39.

Was in Paris at the time on a school trip and myself, along with mates were abused (not in a yew tree way), by the French who called us all English pigs and wouldn't let us watch the game.

Guess that is where my dislike for the French and Liverpool come from.

Hi mate,

It's not censorship at at all - you are welcome to post your thoughts as I said earlier in the main Liverpool thread. This thread is for remembering those who tragically never came home after travelling to watch a football match.

One of the many things that differentiates GOT from other football fora is that there is a general respect for the rules and standards this site maintains. You're an intelligent guy with much to contribute, I'm sure upon reflection, you'll agree....

I've posted in the other thread, no worries.
