I have no idea who he is, or how he died, I could google it but I'll just say R.I.P instead.
Sleep tight you unknown hero.
Loved him on Stump the Schwab. Miss that show.
Sportscaster on ESPN. One of the best. Died of cancer at 49...been battling it for several years now.
From last year:

Saw someone (reputable) on Twitter comment on how he brought his own voice to sports commentary/news. That seem appropriate. By the end, his voice became as caricatured as the rest, but he was a great from the golden era, when it was him, Olberman, Patrick, ... Eisen, who else? on ESPN 2. That was ESPN's high point, and they've been trying to reinvent themselves since that time.
And note how all the others scattered, while Stu stayed with the mothership. It was a great time to be a sports junkie. Olberman needed Patrick and fell prey to the demands of his own ego, while Patrick just rolls on with McLovin and the crew. Eisen IS the NFL Network. Losing Stu makes me think of Tommy Mees, actually. We suspected it was coming with Stu, but that just came from nowhere.
Also makes this arl arse count my many blessings...
I'm not quite old enough to remember Boomer and Bob Ley together, but those on ESPN2 will be hard to top. What are the other great partnerships, and which is the best?
Berman & Ley
Scott & Eisen
Olbermann & Patrick
Wilbon & Kornheiser
...
Mike & Mike ?
(haha, just making sure you're still reading...)
M&M actually aren't THAT bad, unless they're all you can find. 15 minutes and I'm maxed, though. Plus there's all the cross-promotion. Always.
Okay, they are that bad. Patrick is so much better. It may be a generational thing, I don't know. I just like the older, more low-key radio product. I hear Martin and Lewis were big in the fifties.
I listen to the locals in the AM anyway. (Hicken and Prosser - certified Googan here... I need a good pre-7AM rant to start the day right.) Any review of Jaguars play is usually all that's needed to get the ball rolling.
