97 years old, a fantastic innings and a legend, not just in F1 commentary, but sport as a whole.

“Wait for the green light!!.... GO!, GO!, GO!, GO!!”, and let’s not forget when ITV messed it up with loads of ad breaks “We’ll take a quick commercial break!”.

The voice of my childhood and when F1 was good.

Same here. The voice of F1 for me, and I'm sure many of us, and as someone else said, as much a part of it as some of the drivers.

RIP :( :(

RIP fella, gave up on F1 about 20 years ago but spent many a happy hour with Walker's commentary.

When I had the original PlayStation,
I bought a F1 game, Murray Walker provided the commentary and said random phrases. After every one the co-commentator always said “You’re right there Murray!” without fail.

“Ukyo Katayama is undoubtedly the best Formula One driver that Grand Prix racing has ever produced!”.
