I really enjoyed his work with Isobel Campbell. Ballad of the Broken Seas was an absolute classic album for me. Wonderful voice, reminiscent of Tom Waits. RIP.

Total [Poor language removed] bummer. Always did exceptional stuff that mostly flew under the radar. His solo work was terrific, as was most else he was involved with.

Gutted.

I liked Screaming Trees back in the day but only really started getting into his solo work fairly recently. Have been immersed in for it the last couple of months. A voice for the ages, one of the truly great American singers IMO.

Amazing he made it to 57, really, given the life he'd led. I hope his death wasn't caused by relapsing.
