Romelu Lukaku is in mourning after his best friend, Wolfsburg midfielder Junior Malanda, was killed in a car accident.

According to reports in Germany, the Belgium Under-21 international died after the car he was a passenger in crashed on a motorway near Porta Westfalica in north-west Germany on Saturday afternoon.

Bild newspaper said the two other people in the vehicle had been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the car left the road and crashed into a tree amid heavy rain and wind.

Lukaku, 21, grew up with Malanda and considered him part of his family. The tragic news was broken to him after Everton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City at Goodison, and the striker took to social media to express his grief.

I'm guessing that's Lukaku out of the West Ham game then?...

Sad news this, and terrible on the family....

Last week 4 girls died in a car crash here in Ireland (three 19 year olds and a 20 year old)....just after Christmas heading back to college...days before they were no doubt just partying and having fun like the rest of us and then its all over....you just never know what's ahead...things like this are always worth remembering when your getting annoyed with the little things in life...
