As everyone here has said not only a great rock bassist but a great musician - his solo stuff veered off into jazz, but he kept returning to rock in the trio format with Corky Laing and Leslie West (Mountain) amongst others as well as the Cream reunion. Classically trained on cello he brought his musical knowledge into which ever type of style he embraced. Thank you Mr Bruce get out that celestial double bass and keep rocking ......

Their album, Around the next dream, BBM, was simply superb.

John Entwistle of the Who also dead was one of the very good Bass guitarist of his era also dead - Gary Moore as someone mentions above was a shock death - sadly many of the greats seem to die young in the rock business RIP to them all
