I watched a programme the other week with gryff rhys jnes called mountain. He met up with George Band ? Who was the youngest member of the 1953 Everett team, together they claimed Tryfan, one of the climbs the team used for training .... The programme was a couple of years old bu it was really good. Massive respect to anybody who attempts everest.
RIP to them poor Sherpas

Yep Kurt you are correct. He and Joe Brown then climbed Kangchenjunga the 3rd highest mountain in the world. Joe Brown lived and had his shop in Capel Curig.

heard about this tragedy earlier today - very sad news indeed. The bloodiest year in the mountains history and its only mid-April FFS!

This commercial madness on Everest needs to be addressed - there has to be a reduction on the number of climbers (and I use the word climbers loosely) on the mountain.

My heart goes out to the families of the sherpas killed or severely injured in this latest tragedy.

I actually watched that programme the other day, they're all on i player, or they were last week anyway. Tryfan is great to climb, probably my favourite mountain.
