No wonder Robert De Nero was laughing, it must have reminded him of his Rupert Pupkin character - another comic dying with a crap act.

I like Gervais in his sitcoms, but he's pretty poor at stand up.

Not funny, but each to their own, reminds me of Chris Moyles, awkward pub/lad type humour.

He filmed this in Chicago - went with the missus to see him the night before he did his big show at the Chicago Theater. Caught the rehearsal act at Park West - quaint little venue that held maybe 500. Brilliant show. Love that he pulls absolutely no punches for anyone - everything is free game.

This whole thing reminds me of a Chico. Kind of "does not give a f***" humour when making a rip.

The fact there's been complaints means that Gervais has got what he wanted...

He's shown up the ones who take themselves too seriously.

But frankly BUZZING off any complaints being made quietly. That's just like CHICO. Epic popcorn moment.

He's been in some terrible films, but he's a fantastic comedic writer.

His stand up is really good, Extras was fantastic and the Office is my favourite UK comedy... ever, actually.

I thought Cemetery Junction was quite good too.
