I was just reading that. What they did over here is like standard over there, they can probably beat women live on air there. WIN!

"Sexual Harassment Training" does nothing but create the impression women need to be protected, instead of encouraging the fact they are completely equal to men in every way other than they have breasts and a vagina. In short, Sexual Harassment Training is sexist.

In this case, action should only have been taken if somebody took offence to the incident and reported it. The procedure is there for a reason. There's absolutely no evidence anyone reported this to human resources.

I'm stunned to read you saying that as a woman - because I don't think women are so weak and stupid in this modern age as to allow something that badly upsets them to go unreported.

The tapes have been surreptitiously released for a higher purpose. The comments about Sian Massey, and the "smash it" conversation are completely harmless, wouldn't offend anybody and were private conversations amongst blokes.

Only the Andy Gray gesture towards that girl reporter was badly out of line, but that should have been dealt with internally following a complaint.

Sexual Harassment Training is sexist? What?! Have you ever seen one of these videos? Last I checked, the entire thing was about both sexes, different sexual orientations, and other items. It is not a "when dudes attack" video. It is not about boobs and vaginas being protected. So you're saying because it's sexist it's not necessary? Come on man - the training doesn't pander to women - that's ridiculous. It sets a tone and precedent.

Although I groan every year I have to take it because the two hours are timed, just last week I had to use the training to report someone who was being derogatory to one of my direct reports. First time in my career. I was very glad I knew the policy.

And the fact that there is no evidence that this was reported to HR is actually my point - you shouldn't know, it would be a violation of employee relations policy if you did. And if you think there are no complaints filed against these two morons you're living in la-la land.

And dude - I do not think my gender is weak and stupid to allow things to go unreported. Your reaction here is exactly why we don't report incidents. You have been spending the entire thread telling me it's a conspiracy theory against two hosts, and that linesmen should be men because it's a men's sport just like selling makeup is a women's thing. Why in the world would I bother reporting you when I can't convince you that what you're saying is wrong (in my opinion). I am not weak or stupid. In the workplace I'm protecting my standing, my reputation and trying not to rock the boat so that I avoid having to change jobs or being laid off. That is incredibly different than WEAK/STUPID.

I have an education from UC Berkeley and Harvard. The last thing I'm going to think of my gender is that we are weak or stupid. Sorry to pull out the big guns, but that is the LAST thing I think.

And guess what, the conversations about Sian Massey and the "private" conversations that weren't private because they were in front of coworkers as I've repeatedly said, weren't harmless and have offended me and the zillions of critics that have written about it in the last few days. Apparently you haven't read any of those articles.

Sorry - no personal attack here, but this gets me bothered. I rarely engage in one of these "types" of threads because they are a no win, but I just couldn't resist. Internet forums and being able to post and all that.
