RFUS's Albums of 2014

Well here goes @RadioFriendlyUnitShifter, there's a few album's which narrowly missed out and a few which I feel would've made it with serious repeated listens, The War on Drugs mainly. Got a feeling @Furey1878 might enjoy some of these.

1. Ben Howard - I Forget Where We Were. Truly superb album by one of Britain's most promising singer songwriters. Not a bad song in sight.

2. Interpol - El Pintor. Interpol essentially prove that their debut wasn't a fluke, by producing an album that's at least on a par with Antics.

3. Brontide - Artery. For those of you wanting to try something new, how about a purely instrumental rock album? Incredibly talented trio.

4. Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else. It's loud, its angry, and its damn catchy too. Exactly what floats my boat.

5. Trophy Scars - Holy Vacants. Blues tinged post hardcore with an incredibly ambitious story attached.

Cloud Nothings are ace!

While I have listened to a lot of new music this year, I haven't really listened to that much that came out in 2014. But I figured I'd give a few more 2014 albums a listen in order to avoid my list being "the only albums I've listened to this year":
  1. The War On Drugs - Lost In The Dream
  2. Manchester Orchestra - Cope
  3. Moonlit Sailor - We Come From Exploding Stars
  4. Real Estate - Atlas
  5. Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 2
  6. Interpol - El Pintor
  7. Linkin Park - The Hunting Party
  8. Damien Rice - My Favourite Faded Fantasy
  9. The Black Keys - Turn Blue
  10. Liars - Mess
A few honourable mentions are in order for Anathema - Distant Satellites, Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence, Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else, Royal Blood, Pixies - Indie Cindy (Wasn't great, but not a bad effort after losing Kim Deal not making music for so long), and Elbow - The Take Off and Landing of Everything.

Also, I'd like to thank @CahillsCornerFlag, as 2 of the albums he suggested I listen to made the cut.

Love the real estate album. Kinda feel they didn't make my list because they are just so consistently great from album to album so I just expected it.

I forgot the Liars album came out this year. They're fantastic live.

That Catfish & The Bottlemen album is a proper going out one. Seeing them in April, great live band it seems. Nothing greatly original but a well rounded album and good to stick on

Some of my favourites from 2014:

Clap! Clap! 'Tayi Bebba'
Fatima 'Yellow Memories'
Jane Weaver 'The Silver Globe'
GoGo Penguin 'v2.0'
Matthew Halsall 'When The World Was One'
Melanie de Biasio 'No Deal'
Taylor McFerrin 'Early Riser'
Your Old Droog
