"The Transfer window has degenerated into three or four segments. First Barca and Real do their thing which is always unsettle your target at his club then finally, when everyone is sick to death of them (and the player) put in a bid. Next up is Chelsea and City with unlimited funds who have the ability to sign players who actually want to play for them. Lots of time all they do is help players negotiate better contracts for themselves. City want everyone while Chelsea want Modric and eventually they will get him. Essien has to be covered and Modric is a terrific player. City are stuck with a lot of players who could really help teams like Bolton, Villa and Everton and sooner or later they have to unload. Eventually they will buy that top spot just like Chelsea did although Chelsea had a world class coach when they did it. United, Arsenal and Spurs all have their wish list but have to be patient. That doesn’t mean they are sitting around doing nothing. Negotiations are under way and eventually they will sign good players. Kenny has signed mediocre players so far and I’m surprised at what he has done so far but lots of time left. United, Arsenal and Spurs are all big clubs with a great history and that will be important in the negotiation process. The press are at it with their usual nonsense but best to ignore it and be patient."
Sums it up quite nicely for me.
