Retrospective action

I see there is now a panel of referee's to look at incidents in a match that the ref has missed, pity it was not in place when the Rat committed the sneaky fouls in the Derby at G P

Should have a citing procedure IMO. Ref cant see everything, but the cameras, by and large do.

Problem with that is, a lot of games don't have the same number of camera angles as the Sky ones, say. Could argue it's unfair that someone gets done in a Sky game because they're caught on the 86th camera angle, but not the one which is on an Icelandic channel so only has 4.

I agree in principle, though.

The solution is simple - don't be a snide & you won't get punished.

Someone else getting off with one, is no defence.

No, but it's unfair.

How would you feel if everyone in the ground saw Suarez clock someone this weekend but the cameras missed it, whereas Lukaku got cited for an elbow and missed the derby?

Thing about retrospective action is the team that the offence was committed against doesn't benefit, one of their rivals do.

I don't get why they can't decide there and then. I mean we expect a ref to make a split second decision, why can't we have video refs doing things there and then?

As fans, you want to see the right decision made don't you? If it's a decision about a goal then you go live to the video ref who can decide whilst play is paused. I suspect most of that could occur in the time usually taken complaining to the ref anyway.

If it's an off the ball type incident that the ref missed, the video ref could look it over and if he thinks something needs doing, he lets the ref know and at the next break in play, it's dealt with. That's not really any different to playing the advantage rule at the moment, where a ref will go back and book a player after the advantage has ended.

Just seems football tries to make half arsed work arounds that do little but over complicate matters.

I think that's a nonsense argument personally, as that situation hasn't happened.

If a situation like that DOES occur in the future then it can be discussed then.

For now, we should take it for what it is. The League trying to ensure that justice is better served for those who transgress the rules & get away with it on the day.

This and with that solution then it would benefit the team who have been wronged.

You can't, though, because there'd be no point in the rules otherwise.

For everything caught on camera and spotted there's at least one other player getting away with something. It always happens.

If it results in snides like Suarez being collared after the fact, then I'm all for it mate.

If the only downside is that not everyone gets' caught, then I can live with that.

As at least it'll reduce the number who used to get away scot free, post a wrong refs call.

Anyway, it'll no doubt give the ****e another opportunity to bleat over some future 'injustice'.

That would make perfect sense, except it's the elite teams that get most of the major decisions for them when there's a controversial incident and they'd never countenance the parity video refs would bring to a game.

See the boy Reither at Fulham has ended up with a 3 match ban after his stamp on Saturday.

Puzzling then that absolutely nothing is being said about Soldado's elbow on Jagielka. Clear violent conduct and should be a 3 match ban.
