Restaurants Recommendations

The Tavern is alright, it's quite cheap and full of students.

Shiraz is very good. Moose coffee by the town hall and Lucy in the sky across the road are both good.

We went to Smoke and Dough yesterday. It is an interesting concept and very good value. I recommend going for the cheap option if you can seeing as you can have as much as you like.

Taking someone out for their birthday, and they are a massive fan of a traditional mixed grill. Where would you good carnivores recommend (not Spoons and certainly not the Lisbon)?

Cracking scran in there. OK if you don't wear your Falklands medals...
Los Amigos on Aigburth Road is new but very good. We've been a few times and have really enjoyed it: lovely food; reasonably priced; friendly service.

It's quite new so they're still getting service sorted in terms of pace, but if you're not in a rush and happy to drink it's great.

Not the first time I've lowered the tone somewhere.

Sorry for hijacking the thread OP but I had to because (a) there are loads of reviews for 'evening' restaurants but precious few for breakfast and, I can't stress this enough, (b) I don't know how to start a new thread yet ?

Thank you, kind sir. Not sure I'm brave enough to do that yet. Regarding the fry, we went to Shiraz just after 9'ish, tables out and all but didn't start serving till 10 apparently. We were starving after the overnight boat journey so decided on Spoons (I know) which is cheap but 'meh' but allowed us maximum pints before the match (less said, the better). Thank you to those who responded.
