Reports: Rooney to leave Everton

Wayne Rooney could leave the club after just one season after opening ‘serious’ talks with MLS side DC United.

Reports claim Rooney's representative Paul Stretford has been in the USA in recent weeks to discuss a potential move to MLS side DC United, with terms and talks have been described as positive.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce recently commented on speculation to talkSPORT: "Yes. There are rumours about Wayne going elsewhere abroad - in China and America - but at the moment he is an Everton player and an Everton fan.

"So I wouldn't consider anything on the cards at the moment. It would have to be massive for him to want to leave Everton."

Picked us out of a few holes this season and for that we owe him a lot.

Slows our game down way too much though and would prefer someone with some legs in midfield, so probably time to go. Has looked increasingly suspect this season and his contribution has faded - not sure what else he offers us moving forwards.

It is a shame he did not come back before his legs ran out. But his experience has shone through at times. Sadly FS does not seem to know where to play him (or who to put around him).
Remember, his kids always had Everton pyjamas
Will he move into coaching one day? Be interesting to see how he gets on

Come back and been decent, in the first half of the season anyway, in what will hopefully be reflected on as our darkest hour in recent history.

Best for all parties if he moves to the USA and leaves whilst it’s amicable, we need to move on and so does he. We’ll never challenge for top 6 whilst he’s a regular starter.
