Howdy folks,

The pedal/crank fitting on mrs d's bike is done in, I've got a new crank, disassembled most of the parts and in theory I think the crank should come off the spindle but its completely stuck:

Tried some WD40 to maybe loosen it, hammered it a bit, 'kin thing ain't moving.

Any ideas before I just lash 80 quid on a new bike?

Apply heat to the area (hairdryer will do) to expand metal and loosen up the bits

What's that black stuff where the crank's attached...grease or an adherent? Is it hard? (calm down at the back)
