I know that some lids on here will remember the last time Everton were relegated, so this thread is about OTHER teams getting relegated, but left you feeling a bit gutted for some reason.

Even though I am relatively wet round th'ears I can think of several examples.

Carlisle United, 2014 - Through family ties, the foxes are my second team. I saw it coming a million miles off so it wasn't a shock but it certainly was a disappointment.

Only as recently as 2008, Carlisle had made a serious challenge for promotion to the Championship. Oh well, at least they didn't go the same way as Tranmere this season! Strangely though, it didn't rankle as much as some others.

Crystal Palace 2005 - Quite simple really, me and three other lids in school had a bet on and I picked Palace to stay up. I was 8 minutes away from winning the bet but Charlton just had to equalise didn't they! The guy that went for West Brom didn't half lord it over....

Forest 1993 - Brian Clough is a man I will always respect and admire for his outspoken nature and courage in the face of bureaucracy.

In hindsight, the sight of a sickly, defeated Cloughie trooping off after a fate-sealing 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United represented the end of football's "attitude era", paving the way for a PR-led snakepit of greed and corruption.

It was a bit like Holmes v Ali, much like Ali should never have had to go through that, Clough shouldn't have had to be in the hot seat when the inevitable happened.

Sunderland in 79/80 ( I think ). We beat them 2-0 at Goodison on the last day of the season, but they would be ok as long as Sheff Utd and Coventry didn't draw. At the final whistle they gave the other game as 2-0 going into injury time, so the Sunderland fans were celebrating. By the time we hit Goodison Rd, the final score of 2-2 came through. Tears aplenty.

QPR staying up at the expense of Bolton in 2012 really did my head in. Imagine if that Aguero goal for City not only won the title, but relegated QPR and Mark Hughes at the same time! But no, that massive gangly freak Crouch went and tumbled for a penalty at the Britannia and it finished 2-2, when a Bolton win would have kept them up. Leaving QPR fans to actually celebrate a last minute goal against their own team at the Etihad to stop United winning the league (I'm not even joking, they really did, Youtube it)

Sheffield United 2007. Watched all their matches that season when Everton weren't playing. Enjoyed every second of their never say die attitude under Neill Warnock. Shame they didn't make it in the end, especially seeing the Tevez/Mascherano saga at West Ham.
Yeah that West Ham "transfer" for Tevez and Mascherano was really bad form and they shoudl have been deducted points for each game they played in. Sheffied Utd got shafted by everyone that season but particularly the FA

Wrexham 2004/5 - dodgy owners try to steal the ground by wrecking the club, club goes into administration, FA hit the club with a 10 point fine despite doing less than flip all to stop the ground theft in the first place which ends up relegating them to Division 2.

Another shout out to Luton in 2009. A 30 point deduction to make them the only team in football history relegated before the season even started!

Not a good advert for English football.
