I know that some lids on here will remember the last time Everton were relegated, so this thread is about OTHER teams getting relegated, but left you feeling a bit gutted for some reason.
Even though I am relatively wet round th'ears I can think of several examples.
Carlisle United, 2014 - Through family ties, the foxes are my second team. I saw it coming a million miles off so it wasn't a shock but it certainly was a disappointment.
Only as recently as 2008, Carlisle had made a serious challenge for promotion to the Championship. Oh well, at least they didn't go the same way as Tranmere this season! Strangely though, it didn't rankle as much as some others.
Crystal Palace 2005 - Quite simple really, me and three other lids in school had a bet on and I picked Palace to stay up. I was 8 minutes away from winning the bet but Charlton just had to equalise didn't they! The guy that went for West Brom didn't half lord it over....
Forest 1993 - Brian Clough is a man I will always respect and admire for his outspoken nature and courage in the face of bureaucracy.
In hindsight, the sight of a sickly, defeated Cloughie trooping off after a fate-sealing 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United represented the end of football's "attitude era", paving the way for a PR-led snakepit of greed and corruption.
It was a bit like Holmes v Ali, much like Ali should never have had to go through that, Clough shouldn't have had to be in the hot seat when the inevitable happened.
