Relegation Thread 25-26

….we’re 5 points off the bottom 3 and 4 points off top 4. Crazy.
The league is incredibly tight this year. Everyone is taking points off everyone. I imagine the clubs with the smaller squads and the squads with limited depth will start to fall off in the busy festive fixture period but maybe not (I don't mean us before someone chirps in! Whilst I don't think we have an amazing squad it is better than in previous years , although I do worry about AFCON). Sunderland, for example, have gambled on buying a reasonably expensive and sizeable squad (36 in the squad when under 21s are included - by comparison we have 24 including our u21s) so the end of January/start of February will likely be a good barometer of final positions and hopefully will start to see a greater spread in terms of points (in our favour, of course!).

We have the squad depth of a kiddies paddling pool, with no “first teamer” in at least a couple of areas, let alone any backup.
We also are surprisingly devoid of injuries at the moment, with on Branthwaite perpetually crocked. It will only take another couple of injuries (which often crop up due a lack of rotation) and we will be in serious trouble.
Then throw in AFCON on top of that….

Sunderland also need that squad as don’t they have like 9 players going to afcon?
