Released Youngsters

Anyone know who was released this week from the Academy ?

From O'Keeffe's note in the Echo it appears Matt Pennington, Chris Long, Conor Grant and Ibou Touray have been offered new deals. From that age group Tom Molyneux, George Waring and Jasper Johns have been released. Best of luck to them all!

From what I am aware Ben McLaughlin (full back signed from an Irish club last summer), Mason Springthrope and Matusz Taudul are also that age group, though I am not sure if they are on slightly different contracts as they were bought in externally.

These guys are the final year Academy scholars, so I imagine some of the other guys in younger age groups will be offered new deals or not kept on, as well as some of the recent guys offered pro contracts in the last two years.

That's why we cut him.
It avoids disappointment later on when he rots in the reserves due to a lack of managerial bottle to blood the youngsters.

Weird that they'd release the captain. Glad Chris Long has got a new deal. Looks good, him.

Anyone know how that George Green lads been doing?
There was a lot of buzz around when we signed him, but aside from that ace youtube goal I've heard pretty much nothing.

I am surprised that Waring is being cut, can anyone confirm that? He has already been playing for the Under 21's and scoring a fair bit for the under 18's? Can anyone shed any light on that?

Everton U21s (to play Chelsea U21s): Griffiths, Stones, Garbutt, Ledson, Hammar, Browning, Jones, Williams, Duffus, Green, Kennedy.

Everton U21s subs: Pennington, Long, Grant, McLaughlin,
And again no Barkley.

George Waring is top scorer for Under 18's this season, scored more than Long. He's the lad that came off the bench to score the winner for the U18's when they won the Premier League Cup couple of years ago.He was also instrumental in the the FA Youth cup run that they've just had too, one of the key players. Holds the ball up brilliantly. Big Dunc's influence has really rubbed off on Waring. He's massive, 6'5" ish I'd say and only 18. Defenders haven't been able to handle him this season. Big mistake letting him go. We'll be watching him on his way up as those with contracts are on their way down.

Doubt it mate. As a couple of my mates have shown, it's a completely different game looking good in the under 18s to the reserves, never mind the first team.
