Reform chaotic transfer system for sake of English players - Dyke
Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has said reforming the "chaotic" transfer system will increase opportunities for English players.

On Tuesday, the FA sent out its first draft of proposals to reduce the number of non-EU players within English football by up to 50%.

"The present system is chaotic," Dyke told BBC Sport.

"There are mediocre players that come and take squad places - those could be filled by young English players."

Proposed rule changes have been sent to the Premier League, the Football League and the players' and managers' unions.

The FA hopes a new system can be in place for the 2015-16 season.

HHmm which mediocre players does he mean I wonder. They come because they get paid a lot. The subject of finances would have to sorted first..

Another reason to vote for UKIP...

Not arsed.

I'd rather they changed the transfer window deadline to the eve of the first match of the season.

Its bad enough we had to watch mediocre english players like tony hibbert for 10 years when the manager actually picked them, imagine the frustration if he didnt have a choice??

Wrong way to handle the problem. The more rules requiring english players, the more good young english players end up on the bench at City, Chelsea, and United.

Better to let those clubs go completely English free if they desire, freeing up quality English players for teams that would start them week-in/week-out.

Or if you must have a quota, add a stricter squad limit so those players can't just rot on the bench.

Too many english players have been ruined because the top clubs have to sign them for their english quota. Knock on effect is the rpices go up for english players and only the top teams can sign them. the selling clubs then go out and sign foreign becuase the cant afford english because of the whole system which got them the higher transfer fee to begin with. the whole system stinks and lets be honest, it was poorly thought through.

To name a few, Johnson, Rodwell, Sinclair, Wickham, Zaha, Naughton were all fantastic young players who were signed by a big club and stunted their growth to the point where they are playing catch up. I imagine in an ideal world if Wickham had stayed at ipswich, Naighton to us, Rodwell stayed, Sinclair at swansea, Zaha to a midtable prem team, SWP to arsenal, Johnson to mid table etc.

All of those players would be better than what they currently are, injuries permitting. As it happens the youngsters getting into the team bar barkley are all from the big clubs again and if they arent then they are being signed up by them.

Case and point, Calum Chambers. Noone cared about him, wasnt first choice over Clyne and if it wasnt for FIFA id be clueless on the guy. Hyper inflated fee later and he is in the England team. Notice a difference between him and Stones who is actually earning his place at his club first?

We are a big club.

We are a big club.

forgot myself with the champions league music blaring so loud and the flashy world class players arriving at goodison.

We are a big club in England, course we are. But in the grand scheme of things right now in this footballing climate we wouldnt even be in the forefront of anyones minds if Roberto hadn't turned us around. We are one of the only clubs who havent been bought by some millionare and oddly enough one of the only clubs who develops young english talent rather than buy foreign all the time. however if someone wanted to sign Barkely from us, we coudnt stop them doing so, but we couldnt go an poach a top star from somewhere else in the same fashion. Luakau not being an example because the cost of him has had to be spread out over 5 years just so we can afford to pay and clearly if he hadnt played for us last year he wouldnt have signed for us.

If you think we are currently in the same league as chelsea city and united in regards to young english players then you are very much mistaken.

that is no bearing on our standing in this country as a founding club, a top flight club and one of the most successful over the past 140 years.

more english players abroad woul help more

Exactly, and his suggestion that the FA do more to help facilitate players going abroad was probably the only worthwhile thing he did say. Of course, the FA know who pays their bills, so they'll have to be very careful about how they do that or they'll be accused by the clubs that tend to waste those young players of selling them from under them.

If Chelsea had any interest in keeping Lukaku we'd not get a sniff mate.
