Referees

Can't really blame the ref today, that is an easy way out.

We were second to every ball, Sunderland wanted it more and deserved they're win.

Refs aren't getting worse ,just their natural human errors are analysed and criticised repeatedly by people with the benefit of technology who have no understanding of how difficult, near impossible it is for referees to actually be able to judge incidents accurately a lot of the time.

everyone makes mistakes hes still one of the best

Is he ****. The man celebrated a liverpool goal while he was refing them. I'd love to see our win to lose ratio with him as the ref coz am guessing right now it's low. Never has a good game for us and always favours the oposition.

Having said that I don't think it was a red card because it was a pass back and there for only worthy of a indirect free kick. Am more pissed off to how **** we took the freekick. You always just lay it off from that range. Not try and blast it through a wall of 11 players. We seem to get the most basic things wrong time and time again.

Dowd was his usual poor self today but we lost this game for the same reason we lost against wigan IMO, bad team selection and and a belive that we where just going to walk this one.

Why don't the FA do something about this?
Howard Webb needed to ref a league 1 game the other day didn't he?
Phil Dowd should get the same treatment, how can you not see thats a red card. Everyone around the ground knew, commentators knew, players knew and the two managers knew

It really is driving me away from Football.
Moyes will leave and the referee will have something to do with it, he said in the middle of the season that referees are awful, hes defo off now.

Come on Ste.

The ref was horrific today. It did change the game. Jelavic's pull down from Rose which even if the ref couldnt see the lino was 15 yards from, the lack of 10 yards for the indirect free kick.He apparently couldn't be sent off for that as you can't get sent off as a keeper for handling the ball in the area, only booked, feel the rules should change after today as ultimately it was a clear goal scoring opportunity, or a penalty should have been given instead.

I agree it is sour grapes to bemoan a referees performance, but at the same time we can't just ignore the fact that he was abysmal and ultimately it made the game a lot harder to win. Matches have lots of phases and say we were to have scored the penalty after Jelavic was hauled down or the keeper were to be sent off, it could of totally changed the outlook of the game, sunderland may have played a lot deeper than they would have trying to preserve a draw as opposed to going away empty handed.

I don't see it as a goal scoring opportunity, Mignolet ****ed up really, He should of just tipped it wide saving us all this commotion and giving us nothing to moan about

Belgians out!

if he had used his hands like that it'd still be deemed a back pass. As soon as the ball is passed back the keeper is seen as an outfield player and cannot use his hands...

I know i've over exaggerated a lot mate but come on, that is a red all day.
These things need to get fixed.

I can take a poor peformance, bad play, I never ever look to refs.

They are not even a professional association.
