New thread to discuss the horrendous refereeing this season. Seems to get worse every year.

Just this week...

Dermot Gallagher reckons the Emerson red against arsenal was the correct decision but still thinks van dijk's challenge on onana (which for me is worse because it was head on) was correctly given only a yellow.

Injury time is going nuts in every game and the sky 6 are getting ever more bizarre decisions in their favour (Silva's handball against palace is a joke and again, Gallagher thinks it was the correct decision to only give a yellow).

Not sure why people watch refereeing segments on these programmes. They are the biggest farce in sports broadcasting. Whether or not the person agrees with the decision usually depends on what team it involves.

Why are we making cretins like any ref or Dermot bleedin Gallagher like a celeb and giving them a voice when its all too late?

The only time i want to hear a ref speak is during a game when he has made a big decision, otherwise 'koff you little ferrets.

It highlights the inconsistencies/bias that the refs are guilty of. Gallagher is a tit, but was a ref and will still be 'one of the boys'. I firmly believe the refs are given steer from the league on what to give and not to give when certain teams are involved.

I agree that they shouldn't be celebs, but Gallagher was a ref. He is showing they are openly interpreting rules differently on a weekly basis depending which team is involved. I think that not only should the ref be mic'd up for all games, but so should the people in his ear.

We are due a reset as VAR is making headlines, like loads of players diving and getting banned for it................ oh wait that only applied to us didn't it?
Seriously, they need to let VAR judge if someone is offside, or decide if the ball went over the line, they can let the ref make a judgement if he sees a foul or not, that was what VAR was brought in for.
Worrying signs that the teams out of the big 6 are being punished for time wasting and having a huge amount of added time applied.
The big 6 meanwhile use "game management" to get around this issue.
