AVB supposed to be close. It's either bravery or lunacy to replace a manager with an average finish of fourth place with someone who was so bad at a near neighbours that he didn't even last a season.

Depends on whether he actually failed because he was bad or if there were other factors that came into play.

Did the players sabotage him or did he fail to inspire them? What's to stop the same thing happening at Spurs? Someone like Moyes or Redknapp would have the strength of character and experience to weed out the ringleaders and get them out of the club.

Could be either of those things or could be any other reasons as well.

Lets not forget why he was hired by Chelsea in the first place, he didn't trun crap overnight or anything i'm sure.

Like you say its a brave move and could backfire but i think its too simplistic to say he failed at Chelsea because he was bad after succeeding superbly at Porto.

He's still only 34, which is the same age as some of the players. At Chelsea they possibly remembered him as being Mourinho's assistant and didn't give him the credit he deserved for winning the Europa League. I'm sure that he is a good coach, but I think it was far too soon to give him such a big job, especially where seasoned managers like Scolari, Ancellotti and Grant have failed to live up to the owner's expectations. It's another big job filling Harry Redknapp's shoes and Tottenham don't have the same money to spend as Chelsea.

I feel that AVB needs to go and lick his wounds and re-establish his reputation with a team a little out of the spotlight, as McLaren did with Twente. If he fails to break into the top three with Spurs or, worse still, performs as he did at Chelsea it will be very difficult to keep his career on track.
