At the risk of sounding a knob....I have an ipad ( the first one ) , my daughter has a Google Nexus thingy and my mrs has just bought the ipad mini last week. To be honest I have no idea what the difference between them all is ha ha, I like the ipad though.

Got the Nexus 7 myself and despite the lack of hdmi port I can confirm it's the dogs kahunas! I'm in the I.T. world so I'm meant to know my stuff, allegedly!

Ive got the galaxy tab with the pen makes it more practical for me the boy loves the latest i-pad but it cost nearly 3 times as much

No, not an appeal for the best Es on the scene at the moment.

Looking to buy the bird a tablet for her birthday. Was gonna get the iPad Mini so we could FaceTime when I'm away for 6 months later in the year, but have recently heard good things about the Google Nexus 7.

She's not massively into tech stuff, so 16GB wifi will be more than enough for her e-books, surfing the tinterweb and watching the odd fillum.

Anyone got any decent recommendations? Or anyone able to confirm that Google one being the dog's doo-dars?

Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 is spot on. Much better than the iPad I reckon.

You can get it in a seven inch screen as well if you're a mingebag.:dodgy:

Cheers, lids.

I may well just plump for the iPad mini. Got a mate heading over to the States this weekend fir a holiday so he might be able to pick one up for me at a cheaper price over there.

Any if our US-based correspondents know the going rate at the moment?

For the iPad mini with 16GB, it's about $330. $430 for 32GB

I have an Asus Transformer Prime and really like it although I don't know how it compares to other tablets.

It's really down to personal preference, if you have android phone then it probably makes sense to go with an android device. If you have iPhone then stay with Apple.

My personal preference is Apple because that's what we all have at home, which means we can share itunes and apple store purchases. I also think the Apple products have a better quality feel to them, just personal preference, others will say otherwise.
