Yup. Firsthand experience of this with a laptop running Vista. Less than a year old when it died - PCworld (from whom i bought it brand new) didn't want to know.PCWorld is the last place you want to buy one from its overpriced and their customer service is dreadful to say the least , the knowhow department is a joke they think the answer to any problem is to format the hard drive
Agreed on this point too. For a budget of £350, the OP needs to identify exactly what he wants a laptop for, because it may be that a tablet would be more suitable. For that price point you're not going to get much in terms of quality. That's the price point where tablets and Chromebooks excel, and they excel for a reason in comparison to laptops at the same price point
No experience of Windows 8. Vista and 7 have put me off microsoft-based PC's for life. Now running a macbook pro which is four? five? years old and still working perfectly. If I was the OP I'd save up for a couple of months and then buy something from the refurbished section on the Apple website. You mostly get what you pay for, but anything with windows 8 will be the poorer for it... mac?
