This is the sort of footie coverage we get down here, and the sort of footballer!

From BBC Bristol "sport".

Andy Dorman has admitted he did not realise he was dropping two divisions after completing his loan move from Crystal Palace to Bristol Rovers.

Dorman, who becomes Paul Buckle's 19th Rovers signing, will stay with the League Two side until 2 January.

"If I'm being honest I thought they were still in League One," the midfielder, 29, told BBC Radio Bristol.

"But I've got that chance to move them up the table and I'm just looking forward to playing and doing well."

Dorman started his career at MLS side New England Revolution, before spending two years with St Mirren where he scored 24 goals in 107 games.

He left Scotland and signed a three-year deal at Palace in 2010 and has since made 26 appearances, scoring once.

"He'll bring experience and stability to the midfield," added manager Buckle. "It's always good to bring in a new face and we need it because of the numbers.

"With Stuart Campbell and Matt Gill out, it's two big players out the game so Andy will hopefully lift the squad."

Dorman will be available for Rovers' FA Cup first-round tie with Corby Town on Saturday.
