The two La Liga teams, currently in third and first in the league, face a transfer ban the same as the one that Barcelona have just come out of.

As Spanish 'paper AS report FIFA have been investigating the two sides for the past 12 months over the registration and signing of under 18s, the same issue that led to Barcelona being banned for two transfer windows.

With the two capital sides being able to buy players in this window it could lead to some panic buying.

However a cynic might suggest we're in for some long appeals that head into the summer and see both sides still being able to buy players in the next window too before being banned in January and summer 2017, similar to what happened with Barcelona.

As with the Catalan side both teams will be able to sign players but not register them until the ban is over, as with Arda Turan and Alex Vidal.

What does this mean for the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, David de Gea, Eden Hazard and Saul Niguez?

They are going to spend an absolute fortune this January.

Can see deals for Leroy Sane amongst others. Atletico will have to flog a few to get any in. Godin anyone,I'd have him today.

An appeal may delay the ban and allow them to buy during the summer.

Might see a very large bid go in for Stones/Lukaku if there's any interest there.

So, if he does not get his transfer sorted out ASAP, De Gea could be staying in United for at least another year. His luck though.
