I am speaking with Ray Hall, the head of the Everton academy this week, and I'm looking for some questions to ask him. Has anybody have any questions that I could fire at him?

we seem to be loaning increasing numbers of of the older players out these days to get experience. Is that part of their academy proscribed learning experience or have they learnt what you can teach them and it's up to them to sink or swim as professional footballers?
i.e. do the Academy still have a (probably limited) input whilst they are away?

a few (admittedly smaller clubs) put their older (UI6 upwards) players through their training badges and have them help coach the younger age groups. Not only does it mean the players are getting badges and learning more about football from the coaching side (useful if playing doesn't take off for them) but it means that the younger age groups identify with the older players and brings about greater club unity from the youngest up.
Is that something that would be workable at Everton or do we do it already to some extent?

Do all the Youth teams play the first team formation to engrain the system on the players from an early age like a lot of other teams or are they taught a variety of different formations to round them out, make them more flexable as footballers?

How easy (or not) is it to persuade young talent that the Everton Academy offers a better route to professional football than other clubs academy's?

What are the major attractions of the Everton Academy versus other clubs?

When considering the structure of the academy and it's organisation do we take into consideration some of the best ideas used by other clubs especially successful academies from clubs across Eurpoe that consistently produce talented players.

Is the quality and quantity of competitive matches between clubs at academy level good enough. Would we benefit by forming greater ties with European clubs an arrange more frequent continental matches.

How much does the academy stand on the 'size versus technical ability' debate in their assessments of youngsters?
i.e. Could a Messi-type come through our ranks even though his size differance at a youth level could be more exaggerated against him?
