Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
Last season our loan signings invigorated the team and were by and large a huge success. With money to spend this season, how have our six senior signings done in your opinion?

Lukaku - 7 - 20 goals is a decent return, especially for a young player. You sense that there is still much more to come though, especially if he gets decent service
Barry - 6 - failed to really recapture the form of last year, but was still an ever present when fit
Eto'o - 5 - came with high expectations, despite his age. Did he unsettle the squad in his short time here?
Atsu - 4 - never really got going and was largely a waste of a slot
Lennon - 7 - has played really well since joining. Hopefully he isn't just playing for a contract and can keep it up if we sign him fulltime
Besic - 6 - showed some promise without being able to dislodge Barry or McCarthy. Will he become more of a fixture next year?

Overall a bit of a mixed bag. Say what you like about Moyes, his record with signings was usually top drawer. Martinez has been a lot more hit and miss imo with probably only Lukaku and McCarthy really doing the business thus far. Big summer ahead.

How would you rate the six signings from last summer?

I would go along with those ratings, although despite only being here a short time I might be inclined to give Lennon an 8, really like the guy. Works his socks off with the ability to add to attacks.

Besic as you say could really settle down next year which will increase the hit rate and Deulofeu was a good bit of business last year along with Barry (last year not this year, obviously).

Lukaku - 7 - needs better service but he's still young and already scoring 20 goals. Next season hopefully he'll get more in the league.
Barry - 5 - he was terrible for a lot of the season, I think he was overused due to injuries though.
Eto'o - 5 - seems to have unsettled the squad. He was a decent player though.
Atsu - 3 - never really played
Lennon - 8 - been fantastic since he got here, just what we needed
Besic - 7 - looked good when he's played, still young and I think he'll do well in the future

Lukaku - 7. Scores goals.

Lennon - 8. Done really well since signing. Would like him on a permanent if cheap enough.

Besic - 7. Hasn't played much but showed glimpses of his ability against West Brom and QPR where he was arguably man of the match both times after a shaky start.

Eto'o - 5. Seems a helmet but won us the game single handedly at Burnley and rescued a point vs Krasnodar (sp?).

Atsu- 2. Hyper tosh.

Barry - 5. Has had a lot of shockers but some great games (United, Young Boys away).

Lukaku - 6 - Bog standard season, where his decent overall goal return has been tempered by too many of them being in individual games (5 over 2 games against Young Boys) and being lacklustre outside of Europe for the vast majority of the season. He's been our "best" signing but it's impossible to ignore the fee, and he was the best of a bad overall bunch really.

Barry - 6 - Been a victim of the tippy tappy negative mindset and has been swamped. At his best when needing to use his brain to intercept and change over possession, not when having to constantly look for tiny gaps when we're sat deep. Has improved lately as we became a bit more direct since the Newcastle game.

Eto'o - 3 - Started great, died off utterly immediately after. By the end a liability.

Atsu - 2 - Utterly pointless, made me miss Deulofeu.

Lennon - 6 - Played for a contract, did well as a result, but we've seen the "real" him in last few games I think. Would be disappointed if we spent any sort of substantial fee on him.

Besic - 5 - Was excited about him based on the World Cup, but what I saw this season was a player who slows the game down far too much to be anything but a bad liability in midfield. Stepovers and little turns are great but he needs to be more switched on to what's around him and give a quicker ball. Potential but that's it at the moment.

Lukaku - 8; that he has scored as many as he has whilst being supposedly crap suggests he is in fact boss
Besic - 7; how he didnt displace Barry whilst the latter was being crap around the turn of the year is a mystery
Barry - 3; half the player he was last year and whilst he improved later in the year he was awful for ages
Atsu - 2; never given a chance and didnt really deserve one based on his club form
Eto'o - 4; played well against Burnley but otherwise meh
Lennon - 6; good but not worth eight million
Galloway - 6; looked decent against an abject West Ham

Biggest disappointment for me was Eto'o. Thought he'd help us out with a few goals and help mentor Rom. But managed to disrupt our squad then move to Italy and disrupt another squad within hours.

Expected Atsu to be balls and he pretty much delivered. Barry's been meh but it's up to Martinez to stop playing two DMCs. Lennon's been bright and Besic hasn't been utilized enough. Especially in this dead rubber end of season.

Lukaku 5 (he's been by and large sloppy for most of the season and his goals won't paper over that for me )

Lennon 7 ( Brought a different dimension to our team and brought Coleman's game back. Breath of fresh air )

Atsu 2 ( 110 minutes total in the premier league. Not his fault )

Barry 4 ( Not the same player we had on loan. Good game here and there but that's Everton's season )

Eto'o 3 ( Played well in spells, not here long enough )

Besic 3 ( Hasn't really been given the chance to shine properly so far )
