Well in mate, it's a good thing you're doing. I'd like to think that most straight people are comfortable with people whose sexuality doesn't fit in with their idea of what's normal, but seeing Gareth Thomas interviewed this morning on breakfast telly highlighted that there's still some way to go.

Ignore some of the slightly homophobic commemts you've got in here, I suspect some of the lads here havn't come fully to terms with their feelings and are only able to express those feelings through a bit of a jestful remark - but they likely mean no harm.
