i was told by a red work colleague this morning that we didn’t sell out v City. I was also advised that there were clearly empty sections in the Park End and that we never sell out.

I am apparently a typical deluded blue.

Amongst his evidence to support his case was that we advertise tickets for every game.

Now I know we used to advertise match tickets a long time ago and also season and half season tickets also used to be advertised but do we still advertise match day tickets or season tickets on the radio ? I’ve not heard us advertising anywhere but then I tend not to listen much to local radio.

Going by the averages below I think what you've been "advised" is wrong or either people have finally stopped going to watch Big Sams master classes in tactics or ST holders who haven't been able to make it. The only seats that I've seen empty are those terrible obstructed view seats but even they sell a decent amount to people willing to sit behind a post.

Man City isn't up yet but see here when it is https://toffeeweb.com/season/17-18/reports/

Edit: so our average is 38,761 and our full capacity is 39,572 so only 811 empty seats on average (a bulk of them probably obstructed views). Seems ok to me lad

Before he could get his spreadsheets out with forensic stats analysis/percentage ratios etc, you should have immediately picked your newspaper up and said "Goway !!! I'm just goin the khazi"

I understand your maths Brendan but for all games on the website the games are sold out possibly bar one this season.
As I understand it we publish attendance, not tickets sold (unlike Arsenal) so any season ticket holders or others who don’t turn up will not show.
Also if the away team doesn’t fill it’s 1500 or 3,000 then that to will reduce the attendance.

Another question / thought....

We are reported to have 32,000 ST holders, if the away team is given 3,000 so that’s 35,000 which means we have only slightly under 5,000 (or 6,500 if the away team only take the lower ) tickets to sell to non ST holders so I suppose it’s no surprise we sell out.

As I say I base the statement that we sell out as I regularly look at latest ticket news and see the games showing as sold out and the club has no tickets for sale.

Finally, no one has answered my original question...

Do we currently use radio advertising for any sorts of ticket sales.

You're mate is a red on a wind up. Probably never been to anfield in his life.

The only reds who've had a go at me over empty seats never go. Nor do any of the United fans I know who constantly refer to the Emptihad.

I go with the addage "All things that are advertised are rubbish," otherwise they'd sell without.

Are we rubbish enough to need advertising?
