Racist jury?

A teenage yob who stabbed a shopkeeper to death has been cleared of murder by a jury in Liverpool.Dad of two Mahesh Wickramasingha 30 had his neck slashed by Sam Harrison 19, who wielded a ten inch knife during a bungled robbery in Huyton.
The jury accepted the teens account that the killing was an"accident" and that the victim had "impaled himself" on the knife. He was jailed for 10 years for manslaughter but could be out in 4 years.
Can`t post a link but full story can be read on Liverpool echo website. What type of message does this send out to other yobs? I think it encourages them to go out and committ robbery and use violence if neccessary!

Disgusting to be honest.... you should get a mandatory ten years just for being in posession of a knife in my opinion....... you don't carry one unless you have the intent to use one.

Knife crime is disgusting ,, a young lad was murdered in my home town 2 years ago by his mate who was high as a kite. The community formed a group in his name and raised awareness of knife crime, The police agreed on a one week amnesty on knifes where people could hand them into the nearest place of collection without fear of prosecution.... shockingly in just 1 week over 700 knifes were handed in...... this in a very very small town.... when questioned about why they carry knifes the ironic answer mostly given is 'for my own protection' ..... these youths are so narrow minded ffs.

I can remember reading this in the echo and it was nailed on murder, the only time i ever ever leave my house with a knife is if i'm buttering toast in the garden, they chat all this bollocks about zero tolerance and the war on guns and innevitably that's all it turns out to be, talk. I was speaking to a mate who used to go to college in Huyton and he said he went the shop quite often and that the fella who worked there was a sound lad.

The only way that we can get rid of this knife crime is ZERO tolerance, anyone carrying a knife should be prosecuted for 'intent' anyone that actually pulls it 'intent to kill' and uses it should face murder and not manslaughter,if the laws of the land need to be changed then they should be as a matter of urgency.
Across the road from where I am sitting is a veritable arsenal of sharpened devices that tbh turn my stomach when I think of how indiscriminately they will be used.
