Racism in football

Saw some vile person during a televised premier league game tonight racially abuse a player, playing for the away team in front of their own fans. Turns out he's a season ticket holder.

Not one person in the vicinity called it out or seemed bothered by it. Seems like it's an accepted behaviour.

I like to think something like that would be called out by Everton fans if seen or heard at goodison park and now Bramley Moore.

Trying to get my head round this, is this something that always happens at other grounds? Will the punishment to the fan and club be enough to stop this happening again?

The country's getting extreme right at the moment so I fully expect racists to acquire a following, heinous and evil that that sounds.

It’s creeping back in all areas of life .
Including football grounds .
It’s not surprising as it is being deliberately encouraged.
We all need to stand strong when it appears , make it clear it’s unacceptable, even if it needs a slap to emphasise the point .

You’d hope it would be called out mate, but there are ignorant and bigots in all walks of life, society is on its arse.

Most people don’t like confrontation, and even if they disagree, will let things go without doing anything about it unfortunately.

They've got massive form for this. They're known as racist FC to other clubs

You’d hope it would be called out mate, but there are ignorant and bigots in all walks of life, society is on its arse.

Most people don’t like confrontation, and even if they disagree, will let things go without doing anything about it unfortunately.

Sound biased here but my times as a season ticket holder in the bullens, lower Gwladys and most recently the park end near the goal the only time I've seen people be out of order were a few doing taunts about the Munich disaster, and they got told to stop it and ended up getting turfed out by stewards and police.

It becomes normalised, like it becomes normalised to pay Sky for sport and soon leaves social media and comes out in every day life. Indeed, the league dropped its stonewall association after pressure from religious extremists and the usual backward right wingers, I expect their thinly veiled pretence at taking racism seriously to follow suit as we in the west lurch backwards as a society
