I didnt want to bump the other thread, but I just wanted to let anyone thinking of buying one, know there are a lot of clones about.

I ordered an r4ds from tecknet for £15 to find that it had 'super card' all over the front, Ive owned a super card in the past and know the 'super card' and 'r4ds' are not the same.

Anyways I had bought a clone, and standard r4ds downloads all over the internet wont work.

But I got mine working and its just as good as an official r4ds so far IMO.

If anyone needs any help getting it going PM me, but dont leave it till chrimbo day to check it, because I nearly had a very angry six year old to deal with, but that has luckily been averted!(y)

www.ndscardshop.com a few people have had the r4 from there and they are cool! but that is only the r4sd not the r4sdhc! as i cant vouch for the latter!

ohhh edit as they are closed for crimbo!

Nintendo DS R4 cartridges ruled illegal
The High Court has ruled that 'game copiers', devices which can be used to store and play copied games on the Nintendo DS hand-held console, are illegal.
It means that the game copiers, known as R4 cartridges, can no longer be imported, sold or marketed in the UK. Companies that sold the cartridges argued that they simply allowed users to easily play home-made games.
Game copiers are designed to bypass security protection measures on Nintendo DS consoles, enabling users to download illegally pirated games and store them on a single chip. The devices can be used to store and load multiple titles. More than 100,000 game copying devices have been seized in the UK alone since 2009.
Nintendo welcomed the ruling, and said it had bought the legal action against two retailers, Playables Limited and Wai Dat Chan, on behalf of the thousands of video game studios that depend on legitimate sales of games for their financial survival.
"The court affirmed that game copiers first circumvent Nintendo's security systems before any non-infringing application can be played on Nintendo's hand-held products," said the Japanese games giant in a statement.
The UK ruling follows a similar judgement earlier this month in the Netherlands, in which The Hague District Court ruled that 11 Dutch online retailers acted unlawfully by importing and selling game copiers for use with Nintendo DS, and modification chips for use with Wii.
ELSPA, the organisation that represents the video games industry, also hailed the historic ruling.
“Our intellectual property crime unit was central in bringing the defendants to the attention of law enforcement authorities,” said Mike Rawlinson, director-general of ELSPA.
“The theft of intellectual property is an important issue for the video games industry, and this judgement will assist the crime unit team in actively pursuing and stopping other individuals who deal in R4 cards.”

I have to admit that it did cross my mind when the kids were playing their ds's in the airport that if pulled by customs and they looked at the cards in the consoles then they may have something to say.

Yeah, they've just been outlawed now. I've still got my old M3DS (basically an R4) though.

The problem is, once you can get games for free, you don't give them enough time. When you pay for a game, you try and get your money's worth, and you see everything the devs worked hard on making. That's another thing, as an avid fan of games and a games dev in training, pirating games makes my conscience hurt!

Nowadays I buy everything, and when the 3DS is out I'll be doing the same with that. More satisfying.
