If you had zero history working in IT but were given the chance to take part in Googles scholarship program which scholarship would you consider the best option in terms of both income and job opportunities ?

- Project Management
- IT Support
- Data Analytics
- UX Design

Im at a crossroads in life. I cant effectively do my current job anymore due to my hearing deteriorating at a rapid pace due to chronic tinnitus and significant hearing loss in one ear.

My options are either to sack off the UK and use the money ive saved to buy a new house in some remote/cheaper/sunnier part of the world and just see where life takes me or do the vastly more boring (but more sensible option) of starting a new career in one of the above industries depending on what Google scholarship I decide to do.

Ive never really been particularly career minded but im also a massive wimp when it comes to making huge life changing decisions such as moving to another country. Even though my heart says to move abroad I still need to seriously consider the other option and thus im hoping someone here can chime in on which one of those scholarships will offer the better job opportunities.

Hands down project management or data analytics.

Both are transferable across industries, have a broad career path and are in demand.

Big undertaking a new career.
You have to ask yourself are you able to cope learning something new.
How long to learn new job?
Possible take up once qualified?
Oversaturation of people after same job.

Yeah this. I prefer Data Analytics myself but depends what type of person you are.

The likes of UX Design is handy but you can pick up a decent bit of that by watching stuff on Youtube and then when you are ready go for it.

IT Support does my head in, most firms outsource it these days anyway and its frustrating as people are thick. Also people wont leave you alone in your personal life with it.

Data Analytics could really pay well if you are able to master something like Sumologic, but I think you really need to get a have a good grounding in general IT principles first. It's could be argued that its as much a Business Analyst role as much as an IT role.

Data Analytics and Project Management

Data Analytics is a hugely growing field and Project management is where the money will be at the top end.

Sorry to hear about your hearing loss. Project management is a lot of phone calls and meetings so that might be a bit of a hassle.

I sacked off the UK and used the money I saved to buy a new house in rural Spain. Do that mate. You can do the scholarship remotely and not have to worry about rent or mortgage
